Bitx from Russia

In our previous post about Bitx from Russia, we had mentioned Nikita building the Bitx 20 3C.

Nikita had promised to send the pictures of his completed Bitx once it was built.

So here are some word from Nikita himself on his Bitx.

Hello my dear friend! I finished the project bitx 3c sbl-1 20 mt. As promised, I send you some photos of the finished design of the transceiver. Most likely I have mistakes, but it works, and it pleases! Now I wait for some details for multiband bitx, so I'm experimenting with a synthesizer. How I will achieve success I will give details."

Thanks Nikita you have done a great job and and completed your Bitx with lovely pictures of your

Bitx. Hope new hams will find your construction technique very useful and admirable.

Amateur Radio Kits.In Now Working

After a gap of one year our website is back with a complete working store and a download
page for all our kits and parts.

It took me some time as I thought of building the website myself as my second hobby is of making websites and blogging.

The website will be made more customer friendly in coming days.

This website was necessary as it provides us  with more flexibility in providing info, as well
as to maintain a better shopping cart as on eBay we have certain limitations.

The site is SSL secured and you need to add an https. before the domain name.

Kindly find the link below to our website.

Vintage SSB/CW Bitx 20 From U.K

Let me present here my friends a Bitx SSB/CW 20  Vintage type of ssb transceiver built by our young friend
Mark Baldridge from U.K

I shall put in Marks own word his experience with building the Bitx through an email sent to me.

"Sunil,

Attached are several pictures of my finished bitx.

Some key features are the laser cut/engraved faceplate, and the scratchbuilt CW Generator.

My "enclosure" was designed to make easy access for modification and troubleshooting. As well as to look like a vintage 1920s era homebuilt radio.

I have the entire rig running off a 6 cell lithium battery at 22V.

Thank you so much for your help and great customer support through the build process.

I have made contacts across the United States, and one CW contact into Canada.

Feel free to share the photos. Have a great evening!

~ Mark "
wishing Mark the very best with his Bitx, hope we more of Bitx in different styles coming up.
Thanks mark for your great effort in putting up the Vintage Bitx.....

Our friends name is Nikita

OM Nikita  has reported great success with his building the Bitx3c using sbl-1 mixers.

Below are some comments by Nikita  himself by an email to me.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

" Hello, my dear friend.

Yesterday I successfully completed bitx 3c sbl-1. And I hope, that I do it. It was very

easy to setup it.  Exactly one year ago, I tried to solder version in the diode mixers,

but I did not succeed. and after one year I enjoy assembled and tuned transceiver (3c

ver). Now I have setup bpf are very easy.

So, now I must put my tcvr to the case. But I want try make this tcvr multiband, until I

No matter what, thank you for a wonderful set, that allows you to get an unforgettable

pleasure. "

CW Tone Generator For Bitx And Other SSB Transcievers

If you have been wondering how to get your Bitx to work CW then we have just launched a CW
Generator Kit. This Kit can be used externally housed in a plastic or metal case.

Please take following notes on working of the CW Generator.

               CW: 700Herz  TONE GENERATOR

This kit can be used as a Morse Code Practice Oscillator and as well as as CW generator for SSB transceivers like Bitx.

CW can be used in two ways.

1.     By feeding the 700 hertz tone, to the mike input stage of TX.
2.     By unbalancing the carrier by a positive voltage from this Generator, which unbalances the balanced modulator.

Using As a Morse Morse_Code Practice oscillator.

The generator has a side tone oscillator, from which the keying can be monitored. An 8 ohms speaker can be connected to monitor sending of CW.

Controls: The following controls are available on board.

Audio Control:  Control the audios gain of the side tone oscillator

Tone Control:  Control the audio tone gains for the microphone TX input stage.

Carrier Balance: Provides a positive voltage to unbalance the modulator stage in TX for CW

Delay: Adjust delay for keying CW as per speed required.

The generator can be powered by 12 volts from the TCVR connected to with the 5 pins PC connector or by a 9 Volt battery. An On/Off switch facility is also provided on the board.

The CW generator board can also be fitted in the transceiver or transmitter case, the 10K trimmers should be used for this, the 5 PIN PC connector and the RCA connector can be discarded and wires soldered direct on the pads.
For using CW there are two methods, which can be used.

1.     By feeding the Audio tone 700 Hertz from Tone Control Output point,
to the SSB transceiver.

2.     By providing positive voltage from point Carrier Balance, the voltage is fed
to the TX Balanced Modulator stage  to unbalance the carrier .

Power Source:

The unit can be powered by 9 Volt external battery or with 12 Volts from the transceiver being used. The voltage from the tcvr comes through one of the pins of the 5 pin PC Connector on board.

A OFF/ON switch can be used when using the 9 volts battery or a jumper can be placed across the switch pads to power it direct.

Connecting to Bitx.

The unit can be connected to Bitx with the 5 PIN connector of the cw gen and the 4 PIN XLR connector of Bitx with a shielded cable provided.
